Christ is the foundation, not an add-on.

Every other word in this brand's identity — Dunamis, Faith, Serve — only makes sense in light of the first: Christ. Not Christ as decoration on a strength brand, but Christ as the actual reason the brand exists.

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”

I grew up in a Christian environment. My family was Christian, and I knew Christ and was saved from a young age — but for most of my childhood, I can't say I was really living my life for Him. Church was part of our lives, but sports often came first. As I got older, my faith gradually became more serious and more personal.

On November 7, 2023, two days before her 18th birthday, I tragically lost my sister.

She was my best friend and one of the funniest people I knew. Even when we argued, she always treated me with love. What means even more to me now is knowing that she did that while quietly going through things of her own. She was incredibly brave and strong, and every day I strive to carry some of that strength with me.

Matthew 11:28 is my favorite verse in the Bible, and the verse I think about every day.

What I love about this verse is that Jesus doesn't say, “Perfect person, you're finally good enough to come to Me.” He calls all who labor and are heavy laden.

I've learned what it means to carry something heavy. Matthew 11:28 reminds me that we were never meant to carry everything by ourselves. We can come to Christ in grief, weakness, struggle, and imperfection.

You don't have to make yourself good enough for Jesus before coming to Him. His grace is enough.

Christ comes first. He is the foundation of my life, and the foundation of BuiltBasix.

Real strength isn't simply physical strength. The strength that matters most is being willing to depend on Jesus Christ when you've reached rock bottom, when you feel weak, or when you think you aren't enough.

Sometimes strength isn't standing on your own. It's realizing you can't — and depending on Christ.

Faith means trusting Christ even through the hardest parts of life. It isn't an aesthetic or a word placed on gym clothing. It is the foundation underneath everything else.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

My goal in life is to become a pastor. I want everything I do to ultimately serve God.

BuiltBasix isn't meant to exist only to sell clothing, workouts, or products. If God allows this brand to grow, I want to use that platform to point people toward Christ, and one day, to support Christian ministries and programs.

I believe our bodies are gifts from God — part of His creation, and something we should care for. BuiltBasix should encourage people to train hard, practice discipline, become stronger, eat well, and take care of themselves — but never make their body their god.

Training isn't what gives someone their worth. A physique isn't someone's identity. Christ is.

I also want BuiltBasix clothing to let people openly represent their faith. What we put across our chest can represent what we stand for — and if I'm building a fitness brand, I want it to ultimately point beyond us and toward God.

BuiltBasix is for everyone — but especially for the person who thinks they aren't enough.

You don't have to fix yourself first.
You don't have to become strong enough first.
You don't have to prove that you're enough.

His grace is enough.
